According to the Taittiriya Upanishad, Jupiter is the intellect and
speech of the Virat Purusha, the Cosmic Body. Jupiter is also said
to be the dwarf incarnation of Vishnu. In Vishnu Purana, Jupiter is
said to be Brahma. Jupiter is also sometimes identified with
Ganapati (Ganesh) and sometimes with Angiras (the priest of the gods
and lord of sacrifice).
Story also prevails that the wife of Angiras gave birth to
Brahaspati, the presiding deity of mental powers and the teacher of
gods. Jupiter is the teacher of the science of light i.e. vedic
astrology and astronomy. He rules the Sun and the Moon and also
