vision, vision gives thoughts and finally thoughts lead to the action".

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam goes exactly with Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman of
Tata group, who in the year 2003, dreamt of producing a safe, affordable
Car for the common man. Finally after the wait of five years, crossing
all financial and technological barriers, Ratan Tata kept his promise
and unveiled Tata 'Nano' on 10th January 2007, at the 9th Auto Expo 2008
in New Delhi. Tata Nano, cool & smart, launched by

was the year 1908 when Ford

'Beetle' (1956) and the British Motor's 'Mini' (1961) were launched

How Will They Do It ?People's Car Tata Nano will be made on the whole new
line of experiments. According to the current production model the Car
companies supply the completely built Car units to thier dealerships but
Tata Motors, in spite of making the Nano Car itself, will take help from
its dealers. Tata Motors will supply the Car kits to their dealers who
will assemble these kits into the complete Car at their own established
plants. If this experiment remains successful then this will set new
benchmark for Car companies in making their production policies. Quote-Unquote: A Mixed Bag of Reactions for Tata Nano Car"It's a good historic moment for the Indian
auto industry and also a proud one indeed that an Indian company took a
step forward on this road. Its an upgradation for an auto wheeler rider
to by a car now." Rajesh Jejurikar, Managing Director,
Mahindra and Renault's. "It's good product but it's still too early
to say whether it will overtake the 800 because it caters to a totally
new market segment." Said Jagdish Khattar, Former MD of
Maruti Udyog Limited
"The more, the merrier. Fundamentals of the
two-wheeler industry are strong and Tata's car is not something which we
are worried about." Said Anil Dua, Vice President (Sales
and Marketing), Hero
Honda Motor. "Meeting the proper quality standards and
safety is not feasible at all in such a model." Said Andreas Prinz, Managing Director
(Passenger Cars), Volkswagen Group Sales India. "I think it is a great thing for India
because mobility is giving new opportunities. I hope Tata drives to
great success with the Rs one lakh car, but it is not included in our
plan." Said, Thomas Kuehl, Board Member,
Skoda Auto
India. Price of Tata Nano CarThe ex-showroom price of Tata Nano Car is Rs. 1 Lakh
but the on-road price of Nano in Delhi would be around Rs. 1.25 Lakh

The Road Ahead Finally
it is evident that this small wonder Tata Nano have set a new milestone
in the history of Car making and would become a forerunner to a new era
in automobile industry. After getting on the road Tata Nano has to prove
its prowess to get safe, durable and efficient mean of transport and
meet the requirement of common man for which the dream of this Car was
seen. There would be around 2.5 lakh Nano cars rolling out every year.
Under the purchasing capacity of middle income group this Car can affect
the environment and the road transport may get thicker. So our
government policy makers have to think about the decongestion on the
road. However Nano Car by Tata Motors is going to give wings to the dreams
