The Peoples' Car brand of Germany Volkswagen (VW) has made its much awaited entry into India with the launch of its latest Luxury Sedan Car - Passat. Volkswagen Passat was launched in the Geneva Motor Show 2006. In India two other popular cars from VW brand namely Phaeton and Touareg are already being imported by its dealers. The 2007 VW Passat is packed with state-of-the-art luxury features and powerful performance.

The all new Volkswagen Passat will be sold in two diesel versions and will be powered by four cylinder 2000 cc TDi 2.0 litre engine that will generate maximum power of 140 BHP and torque of 320 Nm @t 1750-2500 RPM. The high-end safety & luxury features of VW Passat includes light weight body ergonomics, eight airbags, Anti-brake locking system (ABS) and electronic stabilisation programme (ESP) with electronic 12-way adjustable front seat, intelligent memory function, rear and front parking sensors, electric sliding/tilting glass roof, anti-theft warning system and a multi-function steering wheel with operating facility for gear change. Despite having a diesel engine, the cabin of VW Passat is very quiet and makes the outside noises inaudible. The all new Passat has been engineered intelligently and its pack of high end features make this car stand apart in the crowd.

The luxury sedan Passat will be imported from VW Germany as CBU (Completely Built Units) and would be available for sale through company's sole dealer in India. Volkswagen Passat, with its price tag of Rs. 25 Lac - 28 Lac, will challenge the luxury car market of BMW and Mercedes.
