World cup 2011 is the tenth world cup organized by the ICC. This year world cup would see a participation of fourteen teams across the globe. It promises to bring back the much awaited feelings of aggression, patriotism, frenzy, excitement and the gripping suspense!!!
Teams That Might Win The Cup This Year
Based on the analysis of experts on the game, the following teams – owing to their constant form, strategies and past performance have a good chance of winning this world cup. They can be called as the first among equals!!!
India
Indian Team is known to play well in their home grounds and the country is one of the hosts of World Cup 2011. As of October 2010, the Indian team has played 445 Test matches, winning 108, losing 138 and drawing 198 of its games, with 1 match ending in a tie. India has a relatively better record in One Day Internationals, winning 52% of matches played. India also won the inaugural World Twenty20 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2007. The team has players of great skill and all of them are in form. Sachin Tendulkar is the top level batsman and is also the brand ambassador of this years ICC World Cup. Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Zaheer Khan are the other star players of the team.
South Africa
This team has been performing well in the past year and they have beaten the top teams with a big margin. It features as one of the top teams in the ICC rankings of this year. As of 29 December 2010, the South African team has played 357 Test matches, winning 125 (35.11%), losing 124 (34.55%) and drawing 108(30.33%) of its games. As of 3 October 2009, the South African team has played 426 ODI Matches, winning 264 (61.97%), losing 145 (34.04%), drawing 5 (1.17%) and getting a "No Result" in 12 (2.82%) of its games. The Proteas is studded with exceptional players like Jacque Kallis, Hashim Amla, Makhaya Ntini, Andre Nel etc.
England
This year's team for england is coached by Peter Moores and the captain is Kevin Pieterson. The England team has portrayed a spectacular performance in the Ashes,drawing one and beating Australia in three test matches by 71, 157 and 83 runs along with an innings every time. England bowled Australia out again in the last match for 281 and so won a series on Australian soil for the first time in 24 years. The team consists of players like Anderson, Strauss, Collingwood among others.
Autralia
Team Australia is four time world champions and have won the past three consecutive World Cups. They have created the world record as the only team to have lifted the cup four times and thrice consecutively. Although experts believe that the team has not been performing very well and is not in form, they still are reluctant to disregard the team's chances of winning this years cup because "one can never really count the AUSSIES out."
