After 32 years since 1974, Australia once
again has made their way to FIFA World Cup Finals. In the
Continental Titles, the team is a three time winners (1980, 1996 and
2000) of Oceania Champions.
Australia will be playing in Group F along with Brazil, Croatia and
Japan. The star players to take a look are midfielders Nick Ward,
Tim Cahill, defender Tony Vidmar and the Captain Mark Viduka. The
team is quite hopeful and are banking on the able guidance of coach
Hiddink.
The first international appearance of the team was in 1922 against
New Zealand and lost by 3-1. The largest in was against American
Samoa, 31-0. Worst defeat of the Aussie was against South Africa,
0-1 in 1955.
