First half belonged to Brazil with frequent attacks on Korean DPR's goal but the later showed exceptional temperament in handling the star players. North Korea passed extremely well and defended extremely well but nevertheless Brazil were able to create a number of opportunities. It seemed that Brazil lacked the finishing touches of Ronaldo, Adriano and Ronaldinho. However, a moment of brilliance from Maicon broke the deadlock. in the 72nd minute, Elano comfortably finished a Robinho pass that checkmated the entire Korean defensive quartet making the score 2-0. Koreans were no behind and they generated a number of chances throughout the game. During first half, defender Cha Jong-Hyok fired a shot wide, while Japan-based striker Jong Tae-Se also initiated many attacks on Brazil post. With a minute of regular time remaining, Ji Yun Nam burst into the penalty area and drove a memorable strike past Julio Cesar scoring a goal for Korea DPR. In all, Brazil managed to sneak out a nervy victory which was assessed as "It was horrible. They played badly" by a Brazilian fan back home.
