Language: Magahi or Magadhi (closely related to Bhojpuri and Maithili). An earlier form of Magadhi, known as Magadhi Prakrit is said to be the language spoken by Gautam Buddha, and the language of the ancient kingdom of Magadha.

About Magahi People:
Magahi people dominate the Magadh area of Bihar state. This includes Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Nalanda and other surrounding districts. Magahi people can also be found in some areas of Hazaribagh, Giridih, Palamau, Munger and Bhagalpur and a small number in the Malda District of West Bengal.
