Chicken Biryani

Biryani is amongst the most ancient recipes of Indian Cuisine. Tracing its origin way back in the age of Nizams, Biryani is prepared in numerous ways in different parts of India. Its variety ranging from vegetarian to non vegetarian dealicaies have one thing in common - the exclusive taste. Here is a recipe to prepare Chicken Biryani on your own.

Ingredients

  • - 2 cups Basmati rice
  • - 3/4 kg Chicken pieces
  • - 3 large sliced Onion
  • - 1 cup Yoghurt
  • - 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • - 1/2 tsp Garlic paste
  • - 1 tsp Green chilli paste
  • - 1/2 cup Tomato puree
  • - 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • - 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • - 1 tsp roasted Cumin powder
  • - 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • - 2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • - 1/2 cup Milk
  • - Pinch of Saffron
  • - 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • - 2 tbsp chopped Green coriander leaves
  • - 3 1/2 cups Water
  • - 7 tbsp Oil
  • - Salt to taste

Method

    • - Take tomato puree, yoghurt, ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, roasted cumin powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder and salt to make a mixture.
    • - Marinade chicken in the same mixture and leave it aside for 3-4 hours.
    • - Heat some oil in a pan and fry onions till they turn golden brown.
    • - Add the marinated chicken to fried onions and cook the entire mixture for 10 mins.
    • - Take the rice in a pressure cooker and add 3 1/2 cups of water to it.
    • - Take some saffron to mix it with the milk and add to the rice.
    • - Add the cardamom powder and the chicken pieces along with the marinade.
    • - Gently mix all the ingredients and cook it in a pressure cooker for 1 whistle.
    • - Garnish with green coriander leaves.
    • - Serve hot Chicken Biryani.
