Pakku (Mutton Curry)

Pakku means mutton curry prepared with marinated mutton pieces with ginger paste, dry coriander, cumin seeds, chopped onion, nutmeg powder, turmeric powder and salt. Pakkun is typical dish from Sikkim. It is usually served with cooked rice or Saelroti and is delicious in taste state.

Pakku (Mutton curry) Ingredients (Serves 6)
  • Mutton 1 kg
  • For Marinating Paste
    • 2 Teaspoon: Cumin seeds
    • 2 Teaspoon: Dry coriander
    • 1 Tablespoon: Ginger paste
    • 6 pcs: Cloves
    • 8 flakes: Garlic
    • 1 large: Onion, chopped
    • 6 pcs: Small cardamom
    • 1/2 inch stick: Cinnamon
    • 1/2 Tablespoon: Nutmeg powder
    • A pinch: Hing
    • 1 Teaspoon: Turmeric powder
    • 2 Teaspoon: Salt
Method
  1. Marinate mutton pieces with the paste, add salt and turmeric powder and keep for 20 min.
  2. Fry in edible oil and cook for an hour in low heat.
  3. Serve hot with cooked rice or Selroti.
