Income tax department of India has raided 30 locations in and around Delhi in context of CWG 2010 scam. Amongst the most surprising locations being raided is the home of senior BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal, whose nephew, Vinay Mittal, won major contracts for the Commonwealth Games through two companies. Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has promised that the investigations related to CWG scams will be completed in 90 days. Kalmadi back fires on CWG mess
CWG 2010 OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi has lashed out at Delhi chief minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit for mess in Commonwealth Games build up. He said that the collapse of bridge at JLN stadium was the biggest setback and OC was not involved in any if those constructions works. Nigeria faced a shame at CWG 2010 as three of its medal winners tested positive in dope tests. Delhi CWG kicks off with grand opening
The 19th Commonwealth Games kicked off yesterday with a grand opening ceremony at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium. India showcased its rich cultural heritage to the world on the mega stage of CWG making it a hstoric day in Indian sports. The spanking new Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium turned into a golden hue as the Rs 44 crore aerostat lifted into the skies and a bevy of puppets danced and over 800 drummers heralded the event. 1050 school children performed a choreography of the Namaste sign, which presented the 23 officially recognised languages of India through projections on the aerostat. The two hours ling ceremony concluded with chants of 'Jai Ho' by music maestro A.R Rahman.
Deafening roar for Indian contingent
The crowd at Jawahar Lal Nehru welcomed the Indian contingent at CWG 2010 with a defeaning roar standing on their feet. The large Indian contingent of 619 with men in maroon kurtas and black pyjamas with a golden stole and the women in maroon saris, were led by Olympic gold medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra, waving to the crowd, and entered after the last of the athletes and officials from other countries had stepped into the sprawling stadium. Even President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stood up to cheer the Indian athletes with a standing ovation.

After an year long journey across 71 countries of the world, Baton arrived in the national capital of India on Thrusday. Indian army has rescued Delhi from a shame at international arena. After the shocking debacle of foot over bridge at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium, the army has re-constructed the same in three days. After the request of CGF representative to CWG 2010, Delhi traffic police has announced that the blue lanes will be reserved for 24 hours till October 16, 2010. Earlier the lanes were resrved for 12 hours but the indiscpline from city people has initiated this move from authorities.

Games village opens for athletes
The Games Village for CWG 2010 is now open for athletes and officials from 71 nations participating in this extravaganza. At midnight yesterday, the grand games village went into complete lockdown and was opened to athletes from today morning (Sep 23, 2010). The village has 34 residential towers with accomodation for around 8000 people. Besides this, it also has a training centre, gymnasium, dinning area, swimming pools etc for players comfort.
CWG lane system implemented from today
Delhi will experience a change in traffic system from today onwards till three weeks. This change is for the Commonwealth Games for which special Blue Lanes have been reserved for CWG movement. No one can break free into the lanes as their is a fine of Rs 2000/- for doing that. However, the jams in trial runs has resulted in a relaxation from police for daily commuters. The lanes will be accessible to everyone during normal time but as soon as the CWG officials or athletes arrive, the lane has to be vacated or else the fine will be imposed or even the vehicle will be confiscated. So be sure of your travelling in Delhi from today.
Weightlifting venue collapses
Only 20 hours after the shocking accident of footover bridge, Delhi CWG campaign siffered another setback when the false ceiling of Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium camw down. In the morning, around 2-3 tiles fell down in the arena where weighlifting event is to be held. No one was injured in the incident but it added another story to the great Commonwealth tragedy.
Canada slams India for indifference.
The president of Canada CWG mission has slammed Indian government for indifference in games village preperataions. He said that its disappointing on the poart of the government to have such an easy take on CWG. He also threatned to pull out of CWG if the OC fails to meet the 24 hour deadline of CGF supremo Mike Fennel.
Aussie sting operation on CWG security
Australia leading news chanel "Channel 7" has exposed the security measures for Commonwealth GAmes 2010. A reporter of this channel - Mike Dassey entered the main venue of CWG with explosives, without any hinderence by security officials. He bought Ammonium Nitrate and tok it into Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in a suitcase but the security officials went unnoticed. At least 12 police officials starred him passing the security check points but didn't bothered to check his baggage. Even a military truck was also parked there from which soldiers were getting off but nobody took care of this reporter going inside with explosives. The explosive was sufficient to carry around 200 blasts. Shame for world's most secure games.
Footover bridge falls down at JN stadium
Delhi suffered a major setback in its preparation for CWG 2010 just 4 days before the official arrival of athletes in the city. A footover bridge constructed recently infront of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium feel down injuring 50 people. Rs10.5 crores, Beijing games village copied bridge went apart when workers were giving final touches to it. This incident has shattered city's preparation for this mega sports event. A living example of poor quality and faulty designing, the bridge was to be carpeted with special mats. But the wires holding the bridge couldn't bear the pressure of uneven concrete layering and split into two. The biggest surprise came from Delhi CM who said that there is no need to worry for this minor incident. We will construct a new one in seven days or else figure out an alternative passage.Well done Delhi organizers.

Representative of CGF to Commonwealth Games 2010 Organizing Committee - Hooper has said that the Games Village in Delhi is in 'filthy' comditions for living. According to media reports, only 14 towers are in living conditions out of the 34 onstructed. There is an army of stray dogs in the games village along with a pile up of debris which has turned into havoc due to heavy rainfalls. Besides this, the toilets are stinking with smell and coated with stray marks of tobacco. He stated that "as told by CGF chairman Mike Fennel, the OC should abide to the 24 hour ultimatum in making Games Village a proper place to live in."
"No security concerns for CWG" - OC
The Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee has ensured thatthere are no security threats over CWG 2010. The OC came out with this statements after yesterday's unfortunate firing incident near Jama Masjid. The CWG security officials said that the param military forces and Delhi police have taken complete charge of all the venues and the city is safe for tourists and visitors. Nations like Australia, England, Nw Zealand and Cannada have also expressed their satisfaction over the Commonwealth Games security arrangements.
"Delhi games village better than Beijing" : England Chef
England's Chef de Mission Mr. Craig Hunter has said that Delhi Commonwealth Games Village near Akshardham is better than the Beijing olympics.He said that "It is spectacular. t will be a comfortable stay at the Village. I have been coming here in last 18 months and I have seen the Village grow. The apartments are spacious and well furnished. They are of a high quality." He alsi said that it will be a challenge for London to match this games village in 2012.

Hotels to face heavy losses in CWG
After the recent controversy on theme song of Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010, its now turn for hotel industry to press the panic button. As per the need of accomodating foreign tourists during games, many projects were started in Delhi & NCR. On a rough estimate, 53 star rated hotels and 67 general category hotels were selected for Commonwealth Games 2010 accomodation. Besides this, the many inns and guest houses were opened under Delhi government's Bread & Breafast scheme. But all these efforts seem to be washing away in heavy losses with present interest of tourists in India. From 6000 rooms registered for CWG, only 1900 have been confirmed. The main reasons for this lack of interest by foreign tourists include the irregularities in games organization & frequent delays, security factors and the outbreak of diseases like Malaria & Dengue.
Rahman refuses to re-compose CWG theme song
Commonwealth Games 2010 seems to be in a jinx of controversies. From stadiums to identity card, everything has got a controversy to its name. Now its the turn of CWG theme song to grab its share of controversies. The song "Oh Yaroo! Yeh India..." composed by musical maestro A.R Rahman has been rejected by top dancers, saying that the song lacks the energy and vibrancy to use it in the opening ceremony of the CWG 2010. India's top dancing legends including the likes of Pandit Birju Maharaj and others are supposed to perform for about 11 minutes during the opening ceremony, showcasing Indian culture and tradition. But the masters of dances have said that the song does not seem to be in tune with the basic idea of heir performance. Now the performance will begin with vedic chants followed by a journey of six seasons presented through six traditional dance forms i.e Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Bharat Natyam. Meanwhile, the Oscar winner A.R Rahman has refused to rework on the song.

Kenya has announced the track & field squad for Commonwealth Games 2010. The star studed team features Olympic 1500m men and women's champions Asbel Kiprop and Nancy Jebet Lagat, Olympic 3000m steeplechase winner Brimin Kipruto and World 3000m steeplechase champion Ezekiel Kemboi, World 800m, 5000, and 10000m champions Janeth Jepkosgei, Vivian Cheruiyot and Linet Masai respectively as well as the new world 800m record-holder David Rudisha. Besides them, Jepkosgei and Kemboi, are returning to defend their men's steeplechase and women's 800m Commonwealth titles respectively.
World diving champion awaiting Delhi
World diving champion Tom Daley said that he is not feared of any security concerns in New Delhi for upcoming games. The 16-year-old Britain's world diving champion said "I'm not really too worried about security, to be honest, because I know that I'm going to be able to trust Team England. I also know that I'm going to be able to trust the organisers of the Games to provide adequate Village security.".

Triple Olympic champion Leisel Jones said that she has no security or health concerns for Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi next month. She said "India's going to be a great country, it's going to be full of colour, people go there on holiday all the time and really enjoy it and I think we're going to have a really great time,"
Indian swimmers fail dope test
Indian hopes in aquatics went strayed before the start of Commonwealth games 2010 when three Indian swimmers, including two who are part of the national squad for upcomng Commonwealth Games failed the dope test. National record holder Richa Mishra and Jyotsana Pansare were held positive for methylhexaneamine, a stimulant banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
