Shooting

The shooting sports include those competitive sports involving tests of proficiency (accuracy and speed) using various types of guns such as firearms and airguns (see archery for more information on shooting sports that make use of bows and arrows). Hunting is also a shooting sport, and indeed shooting live pigeons was an Olympic event (albeit only once, in 1900). The shooting sports are categorized by the type of firearm or target used.

Shooting in Asian Games 2010

• Three medals for India on Day 6
  India's second gold quest in Asian Games in Guangzhou is still on as the sixth day unfolded with two silvers and a bronze medal. Indian rowers bagged two silvers and shooter Vijay Kumar swept out a bronze taking the medal tally to 11. Ace shooter Gagan Narang missed out on the bronze medal in 50m rifle 3 position event. Shooting is apparently disappointing in 16th Asiad.
• Ronjan Sodhi shoots gold for India
  After a flurry of silver and bronze medals, Indian shooting team finally provided the golden metal at Asian Games 2010. Ronjan Sodhi fired the golden bullet in men's double trap event making it a dominating win over all others in the event. Ronjan assured the gold with six shots still left. A clinical performance by the shooting hero overshadowed the disappointing run by Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra.
