Itanagar
in Arunachal Pradesh is situated at an altitude of 350 m from the sea
level. It is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, which is located on top
of low flat hills. The city of Itanagar is beautiful having a pleasant
climate and lovely atmosphere round the year. The remains of a old
palace and other such monuments treasures the golden past of the city to
the visitors across the world. Itanagar today is divided into two parts,
each 10 km apart from each other, with the older one named Naharlagun.
You will find a great influence of Tibetan culture in Itanagar Arunachal
Pradesh, highly visible in the clothes and costumes of its people.
Itanagar city in Arunachal Pradesh has become home to numerous people
from numerous cultures, coming from all over the country (India). This
feature of Itanagar has given it the name - Mini India.
What To See
Buddhist Temple
Blessed by the Dalai Lama, the Buddhist temple, a beautiful yellow
roofed shrine reflects the extensive Tibetan influence and provides good
views of Itanagar and the surrounding countryside.
Namdhapa National Park
Some 640kms away from the city, the national park is home to tiger,
leopard, clouded leopard and snow leopard.
Polo Park
An amazing little botanical garden at the top of a ridge overlooks the
Itanagar town. One should notice the cane thickets, it looks a bit like
a palm with spines on its stems, but grows as a bush. There is a small
zoo, worth a visit.
