Kufri Travel Guide
About Kufri Kufri is located in the southern part of the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated at an altitude of 2,510 m above sea level amongst the foothills of the Himalayas. It is 13 km from Shimla.At a height of 2501 ms, girded by awesome pinncles, Kufri is a scenic hill resort 13 kms from Shimla. From December to March it wears its white winter garb, with snow trimmings on its undulating slopes are fashioned by nature to exhilarate lovers of winter sports. Skiing facilities and training for beginners are available during the best part of winter. There is a range of slopes, including a beginner's run, an advanced slope and slalom run. Himachal Tourism offers ski courses, and has equipment on hire at Kufri. Travellers can hire cabs or take buses from Shimla, Narkanda or Rampur. An annual winter sports festival is organized every year in the month of February where skiing enthusiasts and adventure seekers come in large numbers Getting There Special conducted bus tours can be hired from Kufri to Shimla. Regular buses and taxis are also available from Shimla. But to fully savour the scenic views between Shimla and Kufri nothing could be better than trekking the 16 kms way. Attractions : Mashru Peak One can hike through thick forest around Kufri to the Mahasu Peak- the highest peak in Kufri. Barog is known for the Choor Chandni or Choordhar peak which is also described as 'Mountain of silver bangle' that looks amazing in the moonlight. Bilaspur Bilaspur, which is located on the bank of Gobindsagar lake is easily accessible through the Chandigarh - Manali national highway no 21. A newly established town of Himachal Pradesh, Bilaspur presents itself as a blend of traditional and modern lifestyle. Renuka Lake Located at a distance of 37 km from Nahan and 60 km from Paonta Sahib, Renuka Lake is considered as one of the largest lakes in Himachal Pradesh. Situated amidst lush green forests of Indian Himalayas, the surroundings of the Lake offers an excellent venue to tourists for the adventure sports. |
