The lovely and enchanting Dharamdam Island is situated 17 Km from the heart of Kannur. The island lies 100 m from the mainland Dharamdam. The island is lush green, covered with coconut trees, palm trees and green bushes. Spread in an area of 5 acres, the island is a refreshing treat to eyes. The beach island is a private property and therefore a prior permission is required from the owner of the area. The island is one of the prime attractions of Kannur and attracts lots of tourists every year, inspite of being a private property. The place was under Buddhist stronghold earlier and was called Dharampattanam.
