Munnar Travel Munnar, an enchanting hill station of Kerala. This enticing hill station of Kerala is known for its Neelkringi flower. Tour Munnar, a city that imbibes beauty of the hills.

Munnar is situated at a distance of 70 km from Idukki is 1600 meter above the sea level. This hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Miles and miles of manicured tea gardens, cardamom-planted woodlands, vast grasslands covering dome-shaped hills, exotic flora and fauna, streams and sparkling waterfalls all combine to give the visitor a unique feeling. The combination of the enchanting sights, pleasant climate and warm hospitality is matchless to this remote hill station.

The tourist season is from August to May but is especially lovely during the monsoons, with little streams and rivulets all over the place. It is close to the Eravikulam National Park, famous for the Nilgiri Tahr (Ibex).
Tea estates at Munnar
Munnar is almost full of tea estates and has thick forest cover. Most of the people work in tea estates and many of them are labourers (to pluck the tea leaves). The majority of the tea estates (approx 27/30) are owned by Tata Tea, one of the Tata Group of companies. In fact, the entire area is known as the Kannan Devan Hills, from which the famous brand of the Tatas gets its name.

Swiss Livestock Project Farm
Also known as Mattupetti (cattle village), the Swiss Livestock Project is a highly specialized dairy farm where over a hundred breeds of highly yielding cattle are reared in eleven cattle sheds. Visitors are allowed into three of the sheds during fixed hours. The project was established in 1961 by Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB).
