Nashik City Guide

Proximity to many holy temples and sites including the famous pilgrimage centre of Shirdi and a long tryst with India's sacred past, has made Nashik a confluence for the spiritually enlightened.
Located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, the city of Nashik has been of greater historical, cultural and social importance since ancient times. Nashik is also known as the wine capital of India or the grape city due to the abundance of grapes and wines trading. The Nashik city has seen upward growth rate in terms of industrialization and has placed it among the fastest growing cities of India. The location of the city on the banks of Godavari River makes it one of the important places of Hindu pilgrimage in the south-west of India and it is this Nashik city that is placed among the four cities in India where in every twelve years the massive Kumbh Mela is hosted.
Legend of Associated with Nashik
It is said that Lord Rama lives in Panchvati area of Nashik, with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana, during his years of exile. Another mythological story related to Nashik is that it was around this area only that Agasti Rishi performed his continuous meditation of one year and pleased the Lord. However, the fact that has mainly led to the emergence of the city is the main base for visiting Trimbakeshwar, the main one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India.
Climate of Nashik
The climate of the city can be divided into three main seasons - summer season, winter season and monsoon season. The summer season lasts from March till May and can be described as hot, with extremely dry conditions. It is only during the south-west monsoon season, stretching from June to September, that Nashik receives its fair share of humidity. Around October/November, the city experiences winter season. This season is again quite dry and pretty cold. The best time to visit Nasik is from October to March, when the weather conditions are at their very best. During this time, you can easily roam around the city and explore its many facets.
