Agartala is the capital city of Tripura located in the northeastern part of India. What To See
Pilak & Venuban Vihara : The sites speaks for the spread of Buddhist religion in this part of India in the long past. Actually Buddhism crossed this region while getting a stronghold in Burma. Here you may see beautiful and metal idols of Lord Buddha and Bodhisattva of Burmese origin. Colossal stone idols of Avolokiteshwar and Narasimha are seen in Pilak.
State Museum : This museum showcases some rare images, epigraphs found at the archaeological sites.
Unakoti : The site lies a little away from Agartala. Rock carvings and murals from Hindu mythology are major tourist attractions in Agartala.
Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary : This is also a short excursion from Agartala. In the dense jungle punctuated by hilly landscape, you may chance upon spectacled monkeys, deer and a variety of birds.
