Nainital has a unique place among the many hill towns of Uttaranchal. The summer resort is blessed with natural splendour and varied natural resources. Nainital is therefore also called 'the Paradise City'. Popular for its large number of lakes, Nainital is said to be the 'Lake District' of India. The most prominent of the lakes is Naini lake ringed by hills. The lake is a heaven for water sports like Yachting, Kayaking, Canoeing and Boating. Nainital acquires position in the ancient Hindu literature, as goddess Sati's abode.
