Abhinav Bindra did India proud by winning an Olympic gold medal in the Beijing Olympics, 2008. Thereby becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal in individual sport. Amongst the many other achievements Abhinav Bindra has also won the prestigious Padma Bhushan, Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
Insight to Bindra's Life
Born in an affluent Indian family in the year 1982, Abhinav Bindra was encouraged by his family to pursue his passion for shooting. It was because of the tremendous support from his family Abhinav excelled in the field of shooting and won many shooting competitions at both domestic as well as international level.
Abhinav Bindra, the ace Indian shooter made India proud in the 2008 Beijing Olympics by bagging the gold medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle competition. This was the first gold medal for India in any individual sport and brought the much needed recognition for Abhinav's illustrious career as a shooter for India. His dedication and focus towards the game of shooting is unparalleled and will take him to newer heights as he moves ahead now after his famous Olympic victory at Beijing.
