Eicher Motors

Eicher Motors was the first Indian company to make India's very first tractor. On 3rd September, 1960 the company rolled out the first indigenously built tractor of the country from its Faridabad factory. The birth of the company dates back to 1948, when Goodearth company was set-up for the sales and service of imported tractors in India.

Company Flashback

Eicher made its first tractor in 1959, the year of establishment. Today, the company plays a significant role in the automobile industry of India. The Eicher Group has a gross sales turnover of more than Rs. 17,250 million (data for the FY 2004-05).

The company has diversified business interests in design & development, manufacturing, and local/ international marketing of Trucks & Buses, Motorcycles, Automotive Gears and components. Abreast of this, Eicher has also invested in the potential growth areas of Management Consultancy Services, Customised Engineering Solutions, City Map & Travel Guides.

The company has about 2400 employees located in 5 manufacturing facilities and 56 marketing & area offices all over the country. The Group has approximately 675 vendors supplying components and sub-assemblies that testifies to the strength of the vendor base. Its products are brought to the customer through its strong network of around 380 dealers distributed across the length and breadth of India. Eicher has presence in more than 40 countries across the world.
