Asin is a famous south Indian actress who has acted in Bollywood also. Her performance in hindi blockbuster Ghajini. Born into a Catholic family in Kochi, Kerala Asin belongs to an enterpreneur family Her father managed several businesses and was considered a prominent entrepreneur before he decided to manage his daughter's acting career instead. Her mother is a surgeon and lives with her daughter. Asin has quoted that her name "means pure and without blemish". She claims that the 'A' in her name is from Sanskrit meaning "without", and 'Sin' from English.
Asin started her career as a tamil actress and proved her metal by winning a few prestigious awards including the filmfare. She bagged south filmfare award of Best Actress for her performance in her second Tamil film, Ghajini (2005). The name of Ghajini proved to be her lucky charm and Asin won filmfare Best Female Debut Award for Ghajini, the remake of its Tamil namesake. Her upcoming projects include Vipul Shah's London Dreams alongside Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, in which she plays a member of a five-troupe band.
