BMW plans to launch the X1 in India. The X1 will be the smallest SUV from the BMW stable and will come with 1.8-litre petrol engine or the 2.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW X1 will be made available in Corporate and Highline trim levels.
The BMW X1 is based on the 3-series platform and will be launched in India in Dec 2010 end. The X1 will be a CKD and will be assembled in BMWs Chennai plant. The cheapest petrol variant should cost about Rs 27 lakh.
The corporate edition of the BMW X1 will miss out all the bells and whistles which include sunroof and CD-changer. The car will get only a single in-dash music system. The wooden bits also go missing on the Corporate Edition. The BMW X1 like the other BMWs will be a rear wheel drive. So, all those who were looking out for small SUV with higher badge value, the BMW X1 will be ideal choice.
