Maxwell was a member of the Australian team that won the 2015 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, where he scored the winning boundary to win the country's maiden T20 world title.

Glenn Maxwell was born on 14 October 1988 in Kew, Victoria, Australia. He has two older siblings, a brother and a sister. His father, Neville Maxwell, was a club cricketer and his mother, Lyn Maxwell, was a keen sportswoman.

Maxwell began playing cricket at a young age and was a talented junior player. He represented Victoria at underage level and made his first-class debut for the state in 2009.
