Mitchell Ross Marsh (born 20 October 1991) is an Australian international cricketer and the current captain of the Australia national cricket team in T20s. Marsh represents Australia in all three forms of cricket, making his debut during the 2011–12 season. Marsh was a part of the Australian team that won the 2015 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Marsh was born in Attadale, Western Australia, into a sporting family. His father, Geoff Marsh, is a former Australian cricket player and coach. His mother, Michelle Marsh, was a netball player. His brother, Shaun Marsh, is also a former Australian cricketer. His sister, Melissa Marsh, is a former professional basketball player.
Marsh made his debut for the Western Australia cricket team at the age of 17 in 2009. He played for Australia's under-19 team in the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, which Australia won
Marsh made his international debut for Australia in a T20I match against South Africa in January 2011. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in February 2012 and his Test debut against India in February 2014.
Marsh has played 79 ODIs for Australia, scoring 2,135 runs at an average of 33.00 and taking 99 wickets at an average of 36.22. His highest ODI score is 131 and his best ODI bowling figures are 5/36.
Marsh has played 49 T20Is for Australia, scoring 1,272 runs at an average of 31.80 and taking 19 wickets at an average of 37.63. His highest T20I score is 77 not out and his best T20I bowling figures are 3/22.
Marsh has played 35 Tests for Australia, scoring 1,510 runs at an average of 27.00 and taking 37 wickets at an average of 38.05. His highest Test score is 156 and his best Test bowling figures are 5/35.
Marsh was appointed captain of the Australia national cricket team in T20Is in June 2022.
In 2018, Marsh was dropped from the Australian team in all three formats due to a string of failures. He was also stripped of his Test vice-captaincy.
Marsh is married to Greta Mack, a former professional basketball player. They have one child together.
